Daniel S. Lee

Born into a musical family, Daniel S. Lee is a third generation musician as a violinist and conductor. Mr. Lee has appeared throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, Israel, and Korea in chamber music, orchestra, and solo performances. He has served as the concertmaster of the Sebastian Chamber, Aspen Concert, and LaGuardia Symphony Orchestras, and has performed under many world-renowned conductors including James Conlon, James De Priest, Lawrence Foster, Andrew Litton, Zdenek Macal, Kurt Masur, Julius Rudel, and Yuri Temirkanov. As a versatile conductor, Mr. Lee had recently conducted the Göttingen and Hartford Symphony Orchestras, and in December he will lead five performances of Albano Ballet’s production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. He has also served as choir director at several churches around the Tri-state area, including at the Good Shepherd-Faith Presbyterian Church. Among many awards and honors Mr. Lee has received are the Ira Gershwin Award from the ASCAP foundation, the Fritz Kreisler Violin Scholarship from the Juilliard School, and the Julius Grossman Conducting Award from the Alumni & Friends of LaGuardia High School. His principal teachers and coaches have included his father Soo Chul Lee, Stephen Clapp, David Geber, Patinka Kopec, Sylvia Rosenberg, and Gary Wedow. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music as a student of Ani Kavafian.
